Ferocious A-Salt Bar Juice by Vapoholic

Vapoholic bring some of their best flavours over to their new Ferocious A-Salts Bar Juice Range, and Stephen got to try them out

Vapoholic sent over these new bar salt juices for me to try out for you all.

I’ve never been a big buyer of vape juice as I started making my own soon after starting, simply because I was skint and needed a creative outlet at the same time. This means I’ve missed out on a lot of good manufacturers, including Vapoholic, but I’m reliably informed by Michelle that they’re pretty damn good and I’ll always take a recommendation from her as she certainly knows her stuff. Plus, we’ve got similar tastes so I know a thumbs up from her will be good for me as well.

Anyway, these are five bar salt juices from their popular Ferocious range. Looking on the website, it seems there are quite a few flavours in the main range so here’s hoping they release more if these five prove popular with customers. The full name of this salt nic range is Ferocious A-Salt Bar Juice and, as stated a couple of times now. there are five to kick off with.

The bottles are nicely understated with the name of the brand and the flavour on them, as well as a wee colour indicator as to what you might get. They clearly state the nicotine level and have all the usual warnings on them, as well as the ingredients, which tells me that they’re 50/50 PG/VG ratio, which goes so well for MTL vaping.

I’ve been using these in a pod system for a change. I usually try out juices in an RDA over the space of a week or so, but with these I wanted to feel the full fury of the flavours, using a mesh coil, so I cracked open five empty pods and filled them up to the brim so I could spend the weekend with a mouth full of flavour.

So, onto the flavours themselves, that’s the whole point of the review, isn’t it?

Apple Peach

Apple Peach - This bar juice is a deliciously fruity blend. Fusing the refreshing taste of crisp, green apples with soft, sweet peaches, indulge in a well-rounded taste sensation!’

I have a strange relationship with apple vape juices. I like a nice candy style green apple with a bit of sour but not much else, so I struggled with this one at first as it tasted (to me) like a more mixed one. As I vaped on, the flavour came through better as the coil broke in and the peach does so much lifting of this juice that it became its own thing, and I love that. I really do. The apple gives way to a sweet, perfumed peach that mingles in and turns this into an almost pear like flavour. It’s a grower, and the perfume does not take away from the profile at all, in fact it enhances it and makes it so much better than if that aspect wasn’t there. The flavour is all over your tongue, which is different for me as I usually taste things at the back of my mouth, where the scent comes in. It didn’t hit immediately, but after a while this flavour’s become one of my favourites. There’s a touch of ice in it as well, which cuts through and stays light.

Pineapple Sour Ice

Pineapple Sour Ice - This tantalisingly tropical bar juice features double-concentrated flavourings, bursting with the sweet and tart notes of punchy pineapple! This sour taste sensation is balanced with a touch of super-cool ice, offering a delicious inhale and icy-cool throat hit.’

Again, after letting the coil break in a little, this flavour really shines. It’s a full spectrum pineapple flavour that captures the whole of the fruit, including the juice and flesh. The sour, while quite light, is in there as it had my mouth watering a wee bit without puckering my lips and having me make that ‘sour’ face. The ice is, again, light and stays with you over the course of vaping, upping the flavour a little and toning the sweetness down a touch. I do love a pineapple vape, and this one is a great one.

Black Jack

Black Jack - This deliciously retro bar juice perfectly encapsulates the mouth-watering taste of a sweet-shop classic, serving up lashings of thick liquorice, scored with notes of aniseed and citrus.’

It tastes exactly like a Trebor blackjack sweetie. That should be enough of a description, but I realise there will be people reading who have never had this sweet, so I’ll try my best to explain it, without just copying the description from Vapoholic. You get the dark tang of the liquorice and a hit of aniseed that melts into a sweet, sweet flavour that’s got a hint of fruit in there. A very full-bodied juice that does indeed make your mouth water and evokes (oh dear, someone shoot me now) some intense childhood memories of showing off my liquorice blackened tongue to my friends. I’m not so sure about the citrus notes in the description, I get more of a berry but, hey, everyone is different.

Menthol

Menthol - Exhilaratingly cool, this bar juice features a double-concentrated menthol formula, delivering twice the ice for a truly frosty experience! If you’re a fan of extra-strong refreshment, this is the one for you. ‘

It’s menthol, just as we know it. There’s a lovely sweetness there that reminds me of the fox’s glacier mint sweets I used to get from my dad as a child. The cold is very prevalent and the menthol hits hard, drifting into a lovely, sweet mint on the aftertaste. It is very refreshing and a nice pick me up. I’d love to go on and wax lyrical, but I think I’ve covered it.

Tiger Blood

Tiger Blood - Untame your senses with this wild vape juice, blending sweet summer strawberries with fresh watermelon and a hint of coconut to deliver a uniquely fruity mash-up. Mouth-wateringly tangy and refreshing, enjoy the taste of your favourite energy drink all day long!’

Back to when I started vaping again (sorry), this is one of those flavours I’d see a ton of mixing recipes for. But I was more interested in making my own, so I never tried it. It means I’ve never actually had Tiger Blood in a tank before and I was looking forward to trying it out finally. And man, I wish I’d had this before as it’s bloody lovely. At first, I got the coconut but once the coil had broken in, the coconut faded into the back a bit and I got a lovely fresh watermelon, mixed in with a sweet strawberry that made it even fresher. The coconut ties it all in wonderfully and makes for a very original type of fruity vape that I just cannot put down. This is truly a 10 out of 10 vape juice for me, and I’m definitely away to look for a shortfill of it now.

Final Thoughts

Wow, Michelle was not wrong. The Ferocious A-Salt range of juices are damn good. The sweetness doesn’t overpower and the flavours themselves grow into something lovely once you toot away on them for a while.

I was particularly taken with the Tiger Blood and the Apple Peach flavours. I’ve mentioned it before, but I do love a juice that becomes its own thing once you get past the descriptions and these both deliver that well. The others deliver exactly what the label suggests, which is a good thing, as sometimes you try a juice and it’s not what you were expecting at all.

I’m hoping that there will be updates to the range, but for now I’m off to browse the shortfills.

You can buy the range of Ferocious A-Salt Bar Juice from Vapoholic. The regular price will be £2.99 a bottle, but at the moment you can pick them up for the introductory price of £1.49 each . They’re in 10 and 20mg per ml nicotine salt strengths.

Pros
  • Superbly crafted flavours that get better as you go
  • Great addition to the range of bar juices that are around
  • Well priced
Cons
  • The only con is that there are only five flavours available so far!

I was a very militant smoker for many years…why would I stop doing the only thing I had left that I liked doing?  Then I fell into vaping in 2017.  My wife bought a cheap kit off from Amazon that stopped working and I took it to a local vape shop to see what they could do with it.  An hour later and full of new knowledge about watts, ohms, and juice strength, I headed home with a new nautilus mini tank for her and raved to her about the helpful guy in the shop. I must have bored her with all my new found information.  I tried her vape that night, and a week later bought my own kit. Then I found POTV and the amazingly helpful and generous people on it. A month later I was making my own (disgusting) vape juice, and a month after that I was winding coils for my new RDA.  Six years on and I'm much better at making juice, and I now have no money but lots of shiny mods and tanks
