Elux Legends Nic Salts New Flavours

This is the third time we've tried Elux Legends salts, but will it be the charm?

Way back in April last year, we got to have our first taste of some fresh new nic salts from Elux, the Elux Legends range. Back then, there wasn’t the huge choice of disposable style e-liquids available that we have now, although nic salts were already pretty popular. It’s pretty bonkers how long ago last April feels! Times change, and things move on, and now bar salts are everywhere, so I was looking forward to trying the latest round of flavours from Elux to see if they still stand up when there is so much competition out there.

Vape Club very kindly sent over the latest eight flavours in the Elux Legends family. If you already use bar salts, you will know to expect big, bold flavours with plenty of sweetness and a level of cooling, those are the basic elements which set bar salts apart from regular nic salts. But with all the competition about, the flavour needs to be on point too.

First Impressions

Before we get on to the flavour, we need to take a look at the packaging and presentation. The Elux Legend range has been designed to feel familiar to disposable users with an oversized box that is similar in proportion to a single use vape. Inside the box, the similarities continue with the 10ml bottle coming in a tear to open pack to keep things extra clean and hygienic. Whilst I totally get the logic of this sort of packaging, it does mean there is more to throw away, and of course here at POTV, we always encourage the responsible disposable of any vape waste, so please remember to chuck the packaging in the correct bins.

Once in, you will be able to get your hands on your e-liquid. Each bottle holds 10ml of 50VG/50PG e-liquid, and you have the choice of 10mg or 20mg. This always makes me happy as it means that if you are coming away from disposables, once you have settled with your new style of vaping, you also have the option to drop down your nic intake.

The bottles have the standard fairly long needle point nozzles which means they should make filling most pods a doddle. They are also nice and squeezy, so you won’t get thumb strain trying to free your juice.

So now all the basics are out of the way, lets dig into the flavours.

Cherry Sour Raspberry

It is no secret that cherry is one of my favourite flavours, with the caveat that it must be done right, so obviously this was the first flavour I grabbed to try. Here the cherry and the raspberry are well balanced and equally well defined, both easy to pick out whilst also managing to merge well into each other. You get depth, darkness, sweetness and a nice tang form the slight candy style sour hints. To keep things light, there is a taste of cooling which enhances the flavour rather than taking it over. It is a strong start.

Triple Melon

This is a great melon medley with watermelon, honeydew melon, and a cantaloupe style all coming through strong. It is as juicy as it is refreshing, and is one of my favourite melon recipes so far. The melons all taste very natural, and it all feels perfectly ripe. Again, there is a slight hint of cooling, not quite an ice, but just enough to keep the refreshing feel going.

Pineapple Ice

“Pineapple Ice nic salt e-liquid by Elux Legend takes a tropical fruit and adds a cool twist. The sharp flavour of juicy-tasting pineapple comes through on inhale, whilst a frosty ice note develops on exhale”

Another of my favourite flavours, this is another good interpretation of pineapple. It has that illusive mix of sweet, almost syrupy warm juice, with a slight sharp kick, and all together it works well to make it taste like a perfectly ripe pineapple. It is iced, and it is a bit more noticeable than on the previous two flavours, but it isn’t strong enough to take your breathe away.

Vanilla Tobacco

“Vanilla Tobacco nic salt e-liquid by Elux Legend is an earthy blend with a sweet twist. Every puff of this woody tobacco blend is combined with the floral notes of vanilla”

I must confess, I am not a big fan on these types of generic tobacco flavours, so I can’t say I was looking forward to these next two flavours, but I was in for a pleasant surprise. First up we have the vanilla version, that is, we are trying the one with vanilla flavoured tobacco. This is a mellow, warm tobacco, no doubt helped with the subtle but sweet vanilla notes. The balance is good, and it is not a bad vape at all. It is sweet which may not suit traditional tobacco fans, but for a bar salts tobacco, it really is pretty decent.

Straight Tobacco

“Straight Tobacco nic salt e-liquid by Elux Legend captures the earthy taste of a classic rolling blend. This simple tobacco flavour provides rich woody notes from inhale to exhale”

Counterintuitively, this regular tobacco is considerably sweeter than the vanilla version which was a bit of a surprise. It still has a decent fresh tobacco flavour, but the sweetness may be a deal breaker for some. I know I personally preferred the vanilla tobacco, but this is still a pretty decent flavour.

Blackcurrant Menthol

“Blackcurrant Menthol nic salt e-liquid by Elux Legend delivers bold fruit notes with a frosty finish. A dark, juicy blackcurrant flavour is cooled with the sweet taste of chilly menthol on exhale”

This was another one I was a little nervous about, I’ve had menthol bar salts before which have been so cold, brain freeze would have been nicer than the effect I have previously been afflicted with. But I was in for a treat as this was a fantastic mix of tangy but juicy blackcurrants and a fresh yet sweet menthol. It is cool and soothing, with a really smooth finish. It is a delight.

Grape

“Grape nic salt e-liquid by Elux Legend features the straightforward flavour of a bold fruit. Dark, yet sweet grape notes run throughout this juicy-tasting vape”

This is your typical candy grape flavour, instantly recognisable but nothing like the actual fruit. The flavour is pretty good, but the high levels of sweetener may be a problem for some. All of these flavours are high on the sweetener levels as opposed to real sweetness, something I am particularly sensitive too and not in a good way, but it is particularly noticeable here which is a shame as it really distracts from the core flavour. If you have no issue with sweeteners, you should be fine with this flavour, but for everyone else, you’ve been warned!

Summer Dream

“Summer Dream nic salt e-liquid by Elux Legend balances three distinct fruit flavours. Sweet strawberry and juicy peach notes are given a sharp kick by tangy pineapple”

I didn’t read the description while I was testing this flavour, and if I’m honest, I wouldn’t have picked any of those flavours out during my time with it. Now having that knowledge, I can smell pineapple, but I really couldn’t taste it. What I did get was a sweet, general fruity flavour which leans towards the tropical side of things. It isn’t a flavour I would personally choose to vape as it is verging on the sickly side, but I can see it being a great gateway flavour for reformed disposable vapers.

Final Thoughts

I was pleasantly surprised by most of these new Elux Legend flavours, they are not just generic versions of the same old same old e-liquids we tend to see when it comes to bar salts. A few were real revelations, the Vanilla Tobacco and the Blackcurrant Menthol spring to mind. My only concern is the heavy use of artificial sweeteners. As I said earlier in the review, not everyone will be as sensitive to them as I am, in which case, you will find a lot to like across the whole range, but if you are like me, you may need to tread carefully.
