RELX Spin Kit

TECC spin us right round, baby, right round with the RELX Spin 4000 4 in 1 kit

Share on:

The E-cigarette Company (TECC) sent us the  RELX Spin 4000 4in1 pod kit for review and they included quite a few packs of the flavours as well, so I’ve had a busy time of it.

The Relx Spin 4000 is, as mentioned, a 4in1 vape device that gives approximately 4000 puffs from four different flavour pods that you can switch up as you like. Its battery capacity is 600mAh so it’s on a par with all the disposables out there, and you can also buy replacement pre-filled pods for this device so it’s a lot more environmentally friendly than single use vapes. I’ve had a few 4in1 kits now and I do enjoy having the option to switch flavours at the twist of the wrist.

The device itself is quite simple. It has a round base with some clear plastic at the top to see the juice levels easily in each of the pods once they’re installed. There’s a LED light to show which pod you’re using, and that doubles up as a power indicator which goes red once you’re at 30% or less charge. Changing flavours is as simple as twisting the plastic barrel so that the desired flavour is lined up with the power indicator.

It’s a cheap, simple, pod replaceable alternative to disposables and has, so far, impressed me quite a bit. The design isn’t brand new, and there are a lot of 4in1s are out there just now vying for attention, but the flavours are just what I like and that’s what’s impressed me. They’re not filled up to the brim with sweetener and cooling effect like a lot of the disposables we get here at POTV are (although both are present), and the flavours aren’t “in your face” strong, they’re just well-done versions of popular fruity vape juices that capture what the label says.

I’ll admit that when I opened the packet and fired the Relx up for the first time, I was quite sceptical. My first few draws did give me the impression that this was just another 4in1 that I’d probably only use for the review then pass on to the wife, but as I delved deeper and I vaped on, I found some of the flavours really are a cut above.

I think the reason for my initial scepticism was that, again for a 4in1, Relx have packed four very similar flavours into the box with the device. The one I received seems to be the blue razz based one and while I do love a bit of blue razz, I don’t want four variations of it in a device that lets me have different flavours, it seems to defeat the point, but that’s just my opinion. I know other people have very different tastes to myself so I’m probably one of the only people who wants very different flavours in my 4in1 devices.

To be fair to Relx and TECC, there are several options when buying one. You can go for the themed flavours option or go with a pre-set mix so I’m just moaning about nothing really, just the one I was sent myself.

With that minor opinion out of the way, I’ll go into the flavours. I had a total of thirteen to try out so I’ll go through them all and let you know which ones I like and which ones I don’t.

Blue Razz Blackberry

My first thought is that there’s not too much sweetener in these juices. I like that as I am a little bit sweetener averse, even though I try a lot of disposables these days. There’s a cold effect at first but as you vape on, the flavour comes through and it’s a lovely fruity, sweet blue raspberry with an undercurrent of dark blackberry that tops it off nicely.

Blackcurrant Blue Razz

This is similar to the blackberry one in that it’s a nice and sweet blue raspberry, but there’s a nice, earthy blackcurrant in the background as well to level it out. I really like the blue raspberry they’ve used here, it’s sweet and fruity, rather than musty; tart and bubblegummy. Oh no, am I turning into a blue razz snob?

Blueberry Sour Raspberry

I get a nice smooth draw from this one and it’s a bit sweeter than the darker fruit ones, but it’s still tasty. It leads with the blueberry, the raspberry comes in on the aftertaste, and it’s a nice raspberry as well. It’s not so sour, but then sour doesn’t really translate to vape juice very well in my opinion. It does have a nice tang to the flavour though, and the raspberry does come through well.

Blueberry Splash

There’s a slight floral aspect to this blueberry but it adds to the flavour and lifts it a little for me. The juice has that slight mustiness that a lot of real blueberries have, but again, it’s well measured and adds to the overall flavour. I’m not always the biggest blueberry fan due to these aspects, but I like this one as they’ve caught it perfectly.

Sour Apple

This one is a nice green apple with a touch of sour to it, despite me saying it’s a hard thing to capture earlier. It’s nice and sweet, and tastes like the flesh of the apple. Possibly one of the best apples I’ve had as it does exactly what I want from an apple vape juice. I always find there’s too much realness to apple juices, but I want sweet and slightly sour, just that sweeter than the actual fruit, and they’ve managed that well.

Pineapple Colada

This is a pineapple juice with a strong coconut kick to it. I’d even say the coconut is the more forward flavour here, with the sweet pineapple juicing it up nicely on the back end. It’s a smooth vape that has brought me back to it a few times since first trying it out.

Honeydew Melon

I was surprised to find that this tastes like an actual honeydew melon (who’d have thought!). It’s very authentic and if there’s any sweetener in it, then they’ve caught the perfect balance (for me anyway). When I tried it, I let the wife have a pop and she said she was picturing a melon in her head as she tasted it. I don’t know if that even means anything, but that’s her input.

Strawberry Watermelon

Another of those flavours that can be hit or miss for me personally. The strawberry is sweetened up to be sweetie like but, again, it’s not overly sweet. The watermelon is adding a freshness to the mix and it is like the actual fruit rather than candy. It’s a nice mix.

Pineapple Juice

My jam, my jam, my jam. This is just like the juice from a tin of pineapples with a cold kick to it. I’d do without the cold, but the flavour is exactly what I look for in a pineapple e-liquid, and I wish I could re-create it myself. There’s not a lot of added sweetener either. Perfect.

Triple Mango

I always wonder what triple mango actually means. Is it three types of mangoes? Is it three styles of mango vape juice, or is it three stages of mango ripeness? I don’t know. I suppose I could google it, but I prefer the mystery myself. I just don’t know enough about mangoes. As for this version of it, I taste a sweet ripe mango. There’s a floral aspect that you get in the real fruit that adds to the overall flavour, and it does seem to capture all aspects of a mango. MANGO!

Pineapple Orange

I was looking forward to this one as it’s a flavour you don’t get a lot. It tastes like the orange and pineapple diluting juice that you get in supermarkets (squash for the non-Scots), but with a cold kick to it. The cold is quite strong here and it makes the juice better for it.

Kiwi Passion Guava

An interesting juice, they’ve managed to mix all of the flavours together here. I usually feel that the kiwi is out of place in this flavour profile, but Relx have managed to mix it so that it’s just a lovely tropical flavoured vape. I feel that the passionfruit comes through particularly well and isn’t overshadowed by the guava for once as well.

Watermelon Ice

It’s a watery watermelon, just how I like it. It’s that touch too sweet to be just like the real fruit for me, but it still captures the flavour very well. A nice refreshing vape, and a great way to end.

Conclusion

I really rate the Relx flavours here. The device is cheap, easy to use, and lets you mix and match your flavours, if you want to buy the pods outside of the packed in ones of course. It does the job well, and I’ve found that I’ve been using the blue razz blackberry, sour apple, pineapple colada, and the pineapple orange a lot when I fancy a bit of MTL.

As I mentioned earlier, I’m not a big fan of themed flavours when you get a kit, but I do realise that other people are so it’s not a big thing overall as TECC gives you the option to go with a different set of pods.

I like that they’re going for disposable style but without the sheer noise of disposable flavours. I always think it’s better to focus on the actual flavours, and I honestly think Relx have done that here. The only gripe I have is that they don’t do bottles of e-liquid!

You can buy the RELX Spin 4000 kit from TECC for £11.99 and pods are £5.99 for pack of two of the same flavour as well, but I would recommend you get a few different ones to mix things up.

Many thanks to TECC for sending in the RELX Spin 4000 kit and all of the flavours in for review.

Pros
  • Good flavours that really taste like they’re supposed to
  • Affordable device and pods
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Personal one, but I’m gutted I can’t buy the flavours in a bottle of juice

I was a very militant smoker for many years…why would I stop doing the only thing I had left that I liked doing?  Then I fell into vaping in 2017.  My wife bought a cheap kit off from Amazon that stopped working and I took it to a local vape shop to see what they could do with it.  An hour later and full of new knowledge about watts, ohms, and juice strength, I headed home with a new nautilus mini tank for her and raved to her about the helpful guy in the shop. I must have bored her with all my new found information.  I tried her vape that night, and a week later bought my own kit. Then I found POTV and the amazingly helpful and generous people on it. A month later I was making my own (disgusting) vape juice, and a month after that I was winding coils for my new RDA.  Six years on and I'm much better at making juice, and I now have no money but lots of shiny mods and tanks
