Aspire Zelos Nano

DeeDee is back with her review of the Aspire Zelos Nano and for once she is not checking out a pod kit!

Share on:

So, here we have the new Zelos Nano from Aspire! As you probably know I am more of a pod user, but I do enjoy the occasional mod/tank combo, so I was looking forward to reviewing this new starter kit. I have to say a big thank you to UkAspireVendor for their patience – unfortunately I was unwell, and the review has been very delayed, so I apologise that this is coming up later than expected but as they say “better late than never”

So, was it worth the wait? Ok let’s see shall we…….

In the box

As you can see, it is nicely presented with everything you need. I received the Rose Gold Zelos Nano Mod, which comes with a 2ml Nautilus Nano tank and a nice mtl drip tip. Also included is the Nautilus mesh 1.0ohm coil and the Nautilus BVC 1.8ohm coil. As always aspire have provided replacement glass and seals along with a USB Type-C Cable and an instruction manual.

In Use

Just from looking at the Zelos Nano kit, it was very easy to work out what goes where etc… but for a complete newbie, whilst they could see what fits in, they wouldn’t really know what else to do as there are power settings and lights etc, so the manual included provides all the information clearly for them. I always have a quick read through, especially when I get a mod/tank combo. It’s not complicated at all and it's equipped with an auto wattage detection mode which determines the optimal output wattage based on the coil resistance which makes it so much easier. There are however varying power outputs for the coils - 13W/14W/15W (1.0Ω) and 9W/10W/11W (1.8Ω). So there is something to suit all types of MTL users.

The Mod

Well as always, Aspire put care and thought into not only the quality of the vape but also what it looks like and how it feels. The mod is lovely to look at as well as to use. It’s made from premium aluminium alloy, and has minimal branding as you can see in the picture below. I like that they have split the finish, so from the main fire button up you have this shiny, really smooth finish, and below the fire button is a frosted look, still smooth but not a fingerprint magnet! You can use any 20mm 510 tank on the mod.

Using the kit is so simple. As explained, depending on the coil you have three power outputs. You can change the power output by pressing the smaller button, the three power led lights will light up from 1 to 2 and to 3 which is the maximum output. You can also use bypass mode which will automatically set the output to the highest level for whichever coil you are using.

You use the larger fire button at the top to vape, and the usual five clicks will switch it on and off. The LED below the main fire button will light up when in use to indicate battery level as follows:

  • 0-30% RED
  • 30-60% Blue
  • 60% plus Green

So, there are no screens or menus, just two buttons and four led lights, simples!

That huge 1600mAh battery lasted around two days with a lot of use, and it does have passthrough charging.

The Tank

The tank is what I would expect, it is well built with good threads, and it is easy to change coils. The airflow is super easy, it has the usual AF ring at the base which gives you five settings which you can adjust by turning the ring. You go from no airflow to a tiny hole, and then each hole gets bigger as you twist it round.

On the smallest setting, it’s a VERY tight MTL, a 9 on the DD-Drawometer, and then at the largest I would say around a 5, so a true MTL tank. Filling is slightly annoying due to the space you have, using a 10ml nic salt bottle was ok but anything bigger and you may struggle. I only used the 1.0ohm mesh coil as I’ve used the 1.8ohm before and I am not a fan, but that doesn’t matter as that new Mesh 1.0ohm coil is all you need! With amazing flavour, the vape was smooth, and it is probably one of the best Aspire coils in a tank that I have ever used. As I contracted covid during my time trying the kit, the tank was left with liquid in it for a few weeks and I was amazed that there were zero leaks. Even in use and after filling, I had no leakage or bubbling, just a good vape. It comes with a replaceable 510 drip tip, but I really enjoyed using this, I had no need to change it. It’s the perfect shape for me, and for MTL it is spot on.

As it’s a proper tank, you can clearly see your liquid level and the coil holes are quite low down too so there is no need to constantly be filling the tank. I wish it had a bigger tank, but as we all know that’s TPD rules for you!

Top pros

  • Super easy – perfect for newbies or long time MTL vapers
  • Excellent flavour from the 1.0ohm mesh coil
  • Zero leaking
  • True MTL with great adjustable airflow
  • 1600mAh
  • Drip tip is perfect, but you can use your own if you prefer

Niggles

Not keen on the 1.8ohm BVC coil – it doesn’t provide enough flavour for me

In August 2019 I joined POTV & in Sept I bought a Caliburn and some nic salts & have not touched a cigarette since! I was smoking around 20 cigarettes a day for 26 years!! Mental! I honestly appreciate all the help and guidance from the POTV members, they made the switch so much easier!I am very much into MTL PODs & AIOs.
