Wismec Reuleaux styling and build quality

You know I’ve completely lost track of how many ways various people including myself pronounce this devices name. At one point I started calling it the Rollo because it was easier. In actual fact I think it is pronounced Roo-Low or Ree-Lo. Of course it could also be Rel-O but then I don’t speak French as a rule apart from the very useful “Je ne comprends pas” which works a treat when you receive one of those annoying cold calls from someone trying to sell you something. Maybe we should just call it the Wizbit Relux from now on to save us the trouble.

Anyway enough of my seemingly irrelevant tangent. In terms of build quality this is a beautiful device albeit one with an unusual shape. It is also a heavy device and it reminds me a lot of SX Mini M Class in terms of weight. This weight is entirely understandable since the device requires three 18650 batteries, however the device has an excellent ergonomic design making for a very comfortable feel and grip when held in the hand. I don’t think it is a device you would take out and about with you for long periods but for at home use the weight is practically a non-issue.

Despite taking three batteries it is actually quite a short device but it is far wider than others. It feels exceptionally well put together and I feel it is rather attractive since the two tone scheme makes it look very classy!

The 510 pin is spring-loaded and every atomizer I used sat flush. The buttons have a great feel to them and are of course rattle free. The display is lovely being large, bright and extremely clear. All the typical information needed is displayed featuring resistance, wattage and voltage. In addition temperature and battery life are also displayed. Through the use of eScribe the display can be fully customised to show whatever information you require.

The battery compartment cover is excellent and is held on very securely by four strong magnets. It was quite unusual to see a device that required three batteries and it really has a massive compartment. Uniquely the interior isn’t black but is instead a nice bright green. The batteries fit well and there is a ribbon to assist with removing them. The battery compartment lid is ever so slightly awkward to remove but it really is just a case of getting your nail under it. This device has loads of venting with twenty holes in the base and a further three holes per side.

The Micro USB port is in a sensible location so you can keep the device upright while connected to your PC. It goes without saying that the port is for connection purposes only because if you tried to charge three 18650 batteries by USB you would still be at it sometime next Christmas!

Operating procedure

Being a DNA 200 device means it operates exactly the same as others currently available on the market. If you wish to make use of eScribe then you will require a PC running Windows XP or higher with an active Internet connection. Without eScribe you will really limit the full potential of this device. The basic functions are as follows:

  • Five clicks of the fire button to lock/unlock
  • With the device unlocked hold down the plus and minus buttons to lock the power. Press the plus or minus button twice to open up the profile menu
  • With the device locked hold the plus and minus buttons to allow you to change the temperature. Adjust temperature with the plus and minus buttons
  • With the device locked hold the fire button and plus button to enable resistance lock
  • The device will go into standby mode when not in use and after long periods it will ask you to confirm if the atomizer has been changed

Wismec Reuleaux performance

Like all DNA 200 devices the Wismec Reuleaux gives a consistently good vape and as I have mentioned before it also seems much smoother. With this particular chip you can be absolutely certain of absolute accuracy when it comes to coil resistance and also temperature controlled vaping.

The fact that this device uses three 18650 batteries makes for a very long lifespan before you have to swap them out. This means that higher wattage vaping is possible for longer periods unlike most of the current DNA 200 devices. Another advantage is that due to the batteries being replaceable means you are not forced to wait for the device to charge like you would have to with a 3 pack LiPo battery. Of course the one drawback of this is that you ideally should have two sets of three batteries and you will require an external charger which is an additional expense. It is also wise to label your batteries A, B and C and rotate them after each charge so as not to put undue stress on one battery.

I used this device with several of my atomizers. Firstly my GP Heron 1.5, then my Achilles II RDA using a Ni200 build and finally my Freemax Starre Pro. Each time I got a consistently good vape with absolutely no problems occurring at all.

When using my GP Heron I was vaping at 17W and the battery charge seemed to be lasting ages. It was actually at 75% full charge when it was sent it to me and it is only just at 50% and I’ve been using the device moderately over a couple of days.

Higher wattages will understandably drain the batteries faster but at least 100W+ vaping is possible for longer periods unlike my own Lavabox DNA 200 which runs out of steam quickly but to be fair it is only a 900mAh battery and not everyone myself included requires high wattage.

Performance is not an issue for the Reuleaux and it works perfectly for standard vaping and temperature control. In addition eScribe allows you to fully customize your settings and create individual profiles for your atomizers which makes this a really superb device!

Conclusion

If you are at all tempted to a DNA 200 device and are someone that often prefers to vape at high wattage then the Wismec Reuleaux is your best option due to its greater battery life.

This is an exceptionally well put together device that offers trouble free vaping and features the best chip currently available on the market! The only real downsides are the high price (understandable considering the chip and build quality) and the devices heavier weight but to all extents this is countered by having an excellent ergonomic design that feels great in the hand.

For anyone who plans to use a DNA 200 device often this is an excellent choice!
