ZQ Xtal Pod System Kit

DeeDee takes a look at the ZQ Xtal Pod System Kit. Surely there can't be many pod systems she hasn't tried yet?

Thank you to ZQ Vapor for sending this in for review!

A little intro about ZQ Vapor:

"SKEY (owner of ZQ) is a Chinese vape brand that was established in 2013, and has always been dedicated to provide customers with high quality products as well as attentive service. From the very beginning, SKEY has put continuous effort into establishing close and stable relationships with its domestic and oversea distributors. By cooperating with distributors, SKEY has founded service centres worldwide to provide customers with quick and efficient support.

With ZQ, we have sincere focus to offer people a safe and harm-reduction vaping life - cater to the demands of anyone who is interested in vaping. We understand that these demands are different from everyone, so we strive to make products that can fit all types of vapers - starters or veterans."

To be clear, this is my personal feedback on the device and is not in anyway linked to POTV or ZQ Vapor.

Dealing with Rico has been refreshing, so polite and professional. The delivery was quick, and the kit arrived along with a separate box of the 1.0Ω mesh coils! Happy Days!

ZQ Xtal Pod Kit break down

In Use

So looking at the kit, it’s a simple pod kit system similar body to the Caliburn or Smok Inifix. Nice and easy, just how I like it!

It's quite light weight but still feels like a quality device. The main body has a nice clicky power button with a very bright light. Battery level is the usual:

  • Green: 60-100%
  • Blue: below 60%
  • Red: 0-30%

What I like is that you can have it in auto draw mode, button mode, or both. You select this by clicking the power button three times to alternate between the functions. Blue is button mode, purple is both, and red is auto draw. There is a usb charge port on the base for the 520mAh internal battery, and two tiny airholes on either side of the device, that’s about it.

It comes with 1.2Ω round wire nichrome coil pods. The pods have a click in mechanism instead of magnets. You can see your liquid but you still have to remove the pod to see how far down it is as it sits deep in the device. To fill, there is plastic hinged base which is different to the usual silicone bung and so far, I have had no issues with that at all. The fill hole fits a 10ml bottle nib, I think it would struggle with anything larger as it’s a tight fit. As yet there has been no leaking. I used the 1.2Ω round wire first, filled with 10mg nic salts and was pleasantly surprised by it, I wasn’t expecting much but I enjoyed the vape. It is a nice medium MTL draw with good flavour. I used it everyday for about seven days but it was not my only device on the go. It lasted a full week before it tasted burnt so not too bad. I then moved onto the 1.0Ω mesh pods, again using nic salts, but chose Nexus 5mg Coco Sun. This was also very pleasing, a little warmer and denser, of course, with a thicker cloud production, I have been using this pod for six days so far and there has been no drop-in flavour yet. I also tried some 70/30 e-liquid and got a decent restrictive lung draw from this, and the wicking was perfectly fine, no dry hits.

The 520mAh battery is ok for a low watt pod device, not a problem for me as it does have pass through charging.

ZQ Xtal Pod Kit charging

What I like

  • Very good flavour
  • Compact and lightweight
  • Easy to use
  • No leaking
  • I enjoyed the draw and flavour from both pods
  • Passthrough charging
  • Compatible with 50/50 or 70/30 juices
  • Comfortable mouthpiece

Niggles/Cons

  • Micro usb
  • Base charging port
  • Coil life could be better (minor)
  • Tight fill hole
  • Environmentally, not great using closed pods

Final thoughts

In my opinion, this is a MTL and RDTL device. I would happily suggest this for a new vaper or anyone looking for a stealthy pod kit. It's traditional, nothing flash, but does the job well

DeeDee’s Score 7.5/10

In August 2019 I joined POTV & in Sept I bought a Caliburn and some nic salts & have not touched a cigarette since! I was smoking around 20 cigarettes a day for 26 years!! Mental! I honestly appreciate all the help and guidance from the POTV members, they made the switch so much easier!I am very much into MTL PODs & AIOs. Enjoy mingling with the members, helping others and having a good laugh!
