Unboxing
The Caliburn G2 Pod Kit comes in a simple sleeved box with a clear window showing the actual device, the rear of the box displays some of the features and contents.
The kit includes everything you need to get started other than e-liquid: the Caliburn G2 device with the pod fitted and a 1.2ohm coil preinstalled, a second 0.8ohm coil, a little USB-C charging cable, and the documentation.
It might not look like much but this is exactly what we (the customers) want. There are too many kits coming out with just one coil so I’m grateful Uwell include a second alternative so we get to try both out.
First Impressions and Overview
It’s a Caliburn and it doesn’t look much different to the older Caliburns, that’s no bad thing as Uwell have pretty much nailed the styling and ergonomics. This one feels just right in the hand and has no hard edges or annoying bits sticking out.
The all metal body has been anodised with some cool colours; I was sent this two colour gradient green/orange which looks better in real life as the light hits it compared to the photos which kinda flattens the looks.
The USB-C charging port is on the base, the little cable provided does the job and is one of those that’s ideal for a portable power bank. The status LED display is quite small and subtle, it has three colours to indicate the charge during use and during charging.
There’s not much more to describe that you cannot see in the photos. The size is 110.5mm × 22.5mm × 13mm and weighs just 36g so it is very pocket friendly and fits in you grip nicely, I really liked the feel of the ribbed corners. The only other thing that is noteworthy is the clear-view e-liquid window that is on both sides resulting in one of the best I’ve seen, you can see pretty much every drop.
The pod is a friction fit which pulls out reasonably easily and shouldn’t fall out when stowed. When you click it back in place, you get a rather satisfying vibration to acknowledge that it is fitted all the way, a bit gimmicky but I liked it.
The vibration also kicks in for various warnings such as short-circuit, low voltage, overdraws, etc.
(thankfully it doesn’t vibrate with each draw as that would quickly become annoying).
But the absolute star of the show is the new pod. This little pod is as perfect as I can imagine, Uwell have really refined this into possibly the best MTL pod on the market. It just has everything covered: top-fill, replaceable coil with decent access, clarity, and then the all new airflow adjustment dial.
I’m honestly in awe how they managed to make such a tiny dial so effective. I was able to get a super tight MTL draw and even an RDL draw with the 0.8ohm coil. It looks fiddly but it really isn’t, the only thing is that you need to find your desired airflow outside the device, simply draw through the pod as you dial it and you will soon find your preferred tightness.
Replaceable coils is always a plus in my opinion, much less wasteful, and the UN2 coils are quite minimal so there’s not too much metal waste. The coils are clearly marked with the ohms on the base too, that little recess gives you decent access to remove the coil and slips back in without having to align anything.
How can such a little thing be so well engineered? Uwell have fitted so much into a small pod and there’s even some leak-resistance built into the base.
The top-fill is quite common these days, you lever over the mouthpiece so it clips off and reveals the red filling port. It accepts all standard 10ml bottle tips and some of the thinner shortfills too. There’s a breather-hole to avoid airlocks and I found it all to be a mess free affair.
Better still, this new pod will also fit the older KoKos (such as the Prime), and it also comes with the Uwell Tenet.
Performance
For those that are familiar with Uwell’s UN coils and Caliburns, then you won’t be surprised by how good they are for flavour and coil life; they can even handle over-sweetened e-liquids (especially the 0.8ohm).
But for those that are new to the Caliburn then you are in for a treat. The flavour is right up there with the best, the draw is smooth and the auto-draw is instant, the power delivery is automatic depending on the coil and provides just the right amount, as in not too cool and not too warm.
The highlight is the airflow adjustment, that little dial makes this Caliburn G2 the best of the range for me. I’ve always liked the Caliburn range but often desired a tighter draw, I was able to dial in my perfect draw with this little beauty.
The battery life was reasonable and lasted over 24 hours with the 1.2ohm coil (around 3ml) and most of the day using the 0.8ohm coil which still lasted me around 2ml.
Battery charging is 5V/2A fast charging and typically took under 30 minutes per daily charge.
Overall I loved using the Caliburn G2. I mounted it onto a lanyard so it was always to hand and as with every new device, I hammered it (not literally) and gave the coils a proper workout. Both coils lasted at least 15ml, the 0.8ohm lasted the longest due to the wider bore (larger area to gunk up).
There was one thing I found disappointing though; there was no fire button lock where you can still use the auto-draw, you have to completely turn it off to lock it and the auto-draw is off too. This surprised me as it is almost taken for granted these days.
Conclusion
The Caliburn G2 is the best Caliburn so far for me. The main upgrade is the pod design which now includes an airflow dial which is very effective and provided the best MTL vape I have had from a Uwell device so far. It feels more effective than an external airflow adjuster for some reason, actually it makes sense as it is not relying on the pod to body air seal. Either way, I love this feature.
For Uwell to still come up with a worthy upgrade for the old Caliburn range is admirable and makes the shelf-life of the superb UN coils longer and more widely available, I’m all for that!
Simply put – the Caliburn G2 is high Cali-bre

Final Thoughts and Score
The Uwell Caliburn G2 gives me the best MTL vape I’ve experienced from Uwell so far, that little airflow wheel is the No1 improvement in my opinion. It has also pipped the VooPoo Doric off the top-spot as it has adjustable airflow and replaceable coils.
Score: 9/10 (9.5 if the fire button locked)
COMING SOON – Uwell Caliburn A3S (Simpler with an awesome LED indicator)
