OXVA NeXLIM Pod Kit

OXVA got all out for their 5th anniversary by releasing the exceptionally good NeXLIM pod kit

Share on:

OXVA continue their 5th anniversary celebrations in style with a proper next generation pod kit which ticks all the boxes and then some. We get to grips with the delightful OXVA NeXLIM.

If you have been vaping for a while, you will already know that OXVA make great gear, solid, reliable, and some real lookers to boot, and the NeXLIM builds on all of this and pushes things even further to produce a pretty spectacular vape. There is quite a lot going on here too, but somehow they have managed to keep things simple and easy to use.

Normally I would be starting with an unboxing, but this was sent in a special anniversary package (many thanks OXVA!), but rest assured, a nice presentation box and some groovy trinkets and tee-shirts won’t be influencing the core of this review, we are proud of our honest reviews, and that ain’t about to change any time soon. This means I can’t comment on the full retail package as I just have the device and two non-TPD pods, but that should still be more than enough to do the job. I can, however, give you the specs.

  • 1500mAh Built-In Battery
  • Maximum 40W Output
  • 2ml Top-Filling Pod
  • Adjustable Airflow
  • Boost Mode
  • Eco Mode
  • Inhale Activated
  • USB-C Charging
  • 0.6ohm and 0.8ohm pods
  • 88 grams
  • 12 x 2.9 x 1.8cm

First Impressions

For the anniversary edition, I was sent the Glory Red version, although if you want to buy one, there are a staggering twelve different colourways to choose from. If the rest are as gorgeous as the review sample, I don’t think anyone will be disappointed. The Glory Red is a two tone red and white affair, with a stunning pearlescent white body accented with red rubbery grip pads. The depth of the finish is top notch, and I spent far too long watching the light reflect off it, catching different highlights as I turned it in my hand. It feels thick enough to last too, it certainly doesn’t feel like it will chip or be easy to scratch. All the logos are embossed into the red pads, and they somehow suit the whole aesthetic.

Above the from pad, you will find the screen, a dark, round panel which conceals the regular rectangular shape of the screen. This was where I started to really fall for this little device. There are three themes to chose from, all showing slightly different levels of information, but all manage to bring character to the device. First up is the Classic screen, which stays fixed when you inhale. It has a green theme, and tells you which mode you are in, power, puffs, coil resistance, and remaining battery in a bar which drops in increments as you go through the charge. It is smart and efficient. Next up is the Cyberpunk theme, which has two screens, one with the information which can be accessed with a push of the button and tells you your power, resistance, puffs, mode, and battery levels by percentage this time. When you take a puff, the screen changes to an animation of some sort of blue crater spewing smoke and sparkles. Finally, there is the east useful but by far the cutest, the Robot. This only lets you know which mode you are in with a little flame letting you know you are in boost mode or nothing for eco, and your power. That is all you get, apart from a friendly face which takes on a life of its own when you vape. The face becomes animated and has real expression with blinking eyes which turn into hearts before finishing up by displaying “AMAZING” across the screen. Writing this down, it sounds kind of cheesy, and to be fair, it is, but it is just so darned cute! It quickly became my default choice and is by far my favourite animated screen out there despite the total lack of useful information. This is a device with personality.

But under the impressive exterior, there is some serious hardware under the hood. The 1500mAh battery is plenty enough to keep you sorted all day, and interestingly switching between Eco and Boost doesn’t massively impact although of course if you really need to preserve the usable battery life, you probably will want to switch the turbo off. I will get into the two modes in a bit more detail later on though. But as long as you have access to charging, you shouldn’t find the down time too painful with its onboard 5V/2A charging. There is a maximum of 40W available, but as this is aimed at MTL/RDTL vapers, this should be plenty.

Although there is a button on the side of the body of the NeXLIM, this is purely auto-draw, the button is only used to access the menus. But the Auto-draw is rock solid, it has never missed a beat. On the opposite side from the button is a standard airflow slider, nothing new or special, but it does what it needs to do. I did find myself accidentally covering it with my finger, but I would put this down to user error rather than poor design.

The pods are next generation technology and are, in my opinion, a bit special. They are a dark but transparent plastic which not only look smart but also allow you to see your juice levels easily. They look a bit chunky, but the mouthpiece is surprisingly comfortable to use and compliments the vape quality well. OXVA say they use five layers of leak proofing too, and I’d say this has paid off as I have seen no signs of any juice outside of the pod, they seem well sealed and completely tight.

The base kit contains two pods, a 0.8ohm and a 0.6ohm, so you get to play around with slightly different vape styles. They are made from a new version of dual mesh, and this is where things get really interesting, especially when you look at the Eco and Boost modes too. In Eco mode, the power is significantly reduced and yet the flavour is still thick and full but crank up the Boost mode and this baby really comes alive. It nearly doubles the power, and I was dreading it as I don’t like hot vapes, but it only warmed up slightly but delivered a luscious and almost decadent vape which really ramps up the intensity. Thanks to their own Unitech 2.0 wicking system, there was no way I could vape hard enough to dry the cotton and believe me I tried. This wicks like a beast! They also claim their dual mesh technology should massively extent the life of the coils, and I have been chucking some seriously sweet juices through mine, and it still tastes fresh and clean. These are really exceptional pods for both flavour and performance, and should also lead the way when it comes to your wallet as you are not going to need to replace them as often as you may be used to.

Both pods performed brilliantly so really it is going to be down to preference when it comes to which will suit you best. Personally, I preferred the 0.8ohm as I natively vape 50pg/50vg, but I was more than happy with the 0.6ohm too.

Final Thoughts

I have been a big fan of OXVA since they first burst on to the scene, but I can say with no hesitation, that the new NeXLIM is their best kit to date. It is stylish, it has real character, it is built to last, and the vape quality is of the highest level. I knew when I first laid eyes on the kit that I would like it, but the performance took things to a whole new level of enjoyment. If you are looking for a new pod kit, don’t snooze, this is a must have kit.

Many thanks to OXVA for sending in the NeXLIM in for review.
