Dinner Lady are near legendary when it comes to their e-liquids, bringing out some stone cold classics over the years, and they were also ahead of the curve in the early days of disposables too. In fact, if my memory serves me correctly, the very first disposable vapes we tested here at Potv were from Dinner Lady. We could tell that it was a bit of a turning point, but we could also see that things could go either way, on one hand we could see the potential of reaching so many more smokers looking to quit their dirty habit, but we were also concerned, even then, in the wider implications single use vapes might have. Fast forward five years, and we are once again at the cusp of change with looming bans and tax hikes looking set to flip the script, and now the focus is on bringing the same intense flavours but in a more sustainable, less wasteful way, and I am delighted to say the Dinner Lady are stepping up to the challenge once again with their new range of bar salt style e-liquids, the Fruit Full range.
As any vaper will know (and sadly what government advisors seem to fail to understand), flavour is a massive part of what helps us ex-smokers break the habit and chose a better option, and this is where disposables really excelled. But refillable pod kits have come on in leaps and bounds, and coil technology means the hardware can provide that same level of taste whilst generating a fraction of the waste that chucking out a single use vape makes. So now it is down to our brilliant e-liquid manufacturers to deliver the goods at their end, and who better to turn to than Dinner Lady, one of the leading lights in the UK juice scene.
Dinner Lady first burst on the scene back in 2016, and boy did they make their mark. Their Lemon Tart became an instant classic, which is still as well loved today as it was when it first hit the shelves, and they haven’t let off the pedal ever since. You just have to look at all the awards they have won over the years, just about every accolade they could get, they have, and many of these have been voted for by vapers. To say Dinner lady are well loved is a bit of an understatement.
Roll on to 2024, and it is a good time for Dinner Lady to release a brand new range of bar salt style e-liquids. Bar salts are super strong flavours which replicate the experience you get from a disposable vape so you can expect everything to be turned up to the max, but with the added benefit of being able to choose your own kit to use them with, which is just better on every level. If you are just making the jump from disposables to refillables, and are not sure quite where to start, Dinner Lady also sell a great selection of pod kits to go with your juice, and this will massively improve your experience as well as saving you a ton of money in the long run.
The Fruit Full Range
The Fruit Full range covers 16 different flavours, mostly fruits but with a sneaky mint getting in on the action too. To really replicate that distinctive disposable style, they are on the sweeter side of things and also contain a level of cooling, but each flavour will have different levels of both. Some of the flavours are classic disposable types, and some are more unique mixes, but all promise to hit hard and give your tastebuds a real work out!
Apple Peach
“Our Apple Peach Bar Salts is sweet and fruity blend. This flavour combined the crisp taste of Apples with the juicy notes of Peach. It’s like a bite of a fresh fruit salad”
This was an instant wake up call, I was not expecting the flavours to be so instantly vibrant. The apple is so fresh and juicy, but also really realistic with a crisp bite. The peach is smooth and sweet which really works well with apple, who’d have thought! There is a light level of cooling, more a mild refresher. This is lush!
Cherry Ice
“A bold and refreshing blend. This flavour combines the sweet and tart taste of Cherries with a cool, icy finish. It’s like a Cherry Popsicle on a hot day”
This is a candied cherry, more like the type you’d get in a fruit cake along with all that lovely sticky syrup. The ice is quite strong, you definitely get a decent blast which I must admit did take my breath away initially. There is a slightly chemically under taste, but your kit choice will determine how strong it comes through. It is a solid cherry flavour, with a great depth, but make sure it works well with your kit.
Lemon and Lime
“A zesty and refreshing blend. This flavour combined the tangy taste of Lemon and Lime. It’s a citrus explosion; bright and bold”
A tried and tested disposable classic, this is one of the strongest versions I’ve sampled. Everything has been supercharged, and if anything, it may be slightly too strong, at least for me. Subtle, this is not, but it is full of flavour. The ice is smoothly done which was the right choice here as it does tame things slightly and brings the flavour back under control.
Blue Raspberry
“A bold and vibrant blend. This flavour combines the sweet and tart taste of Blue Raspberries. It’s like a Berry explosion in your mouth”
This is an interesting blue raspberry, with a lot more going on than you might expect. It was a lot sourer than I expected, something that not many e-liquids pull off, but it also has a good sweet base. I’m not big on the average blue raspberry, but this one is different enough to be interesting.
Ultimate Strawberry
“The closest thing to real strawberries. Sweet, and slightly tart. This flavour is the ultimate choice for Strawberry lovers”
It is pretty bold to call this the ultimate strawberry, but I always admire ambition! I’m not sure it is the best straight strawberry I’ve ever had, but it is certainly one of the best jam style vapes, especially in a bar salt juice. It is rich and has an almost warm feel to it, and it is so smooth. It is also incredibly moreish; I just keep coming back to it.
Mango Passion
“A tropical delight. This flavour blends the rich, sweet taste of Mango with the exotic notes of Passion Fruits. It’s a luscious and vibrant combination that transports you to a sunny beach”
This is right up my street; I love a good tropical vape. This one is very balanced too, with both fruits coming through equally well. It is very good, especially as both flavours are strong, getting them to work together this well is a real art, and this has been mixed by a true master. Bringing it all together is a vein of chill which again, is just right for this recipe.
Watermelon Ice
“Cool and refreshing. This flavour combines the sweetness of ripe Watermelon with an Icy finish. It’s like a chilled slice of watermelon on a hot summer’s day; juicy and refreshing”
Another disposable classic, and this is up there with my favourite versions. It has all the sweetness of fresh watermelon without that slight bitterness that many watermelons seem to have at the moment. It is really clean and refreshing with a generous amount of ice.
Fresh Fruits
“A vibrant and refreshing blend. This flavour combined a medley of Fresh Fruits. It’s like a fruit salad in a glass. Bursting with flavour and refreshing”
This is a very interesting flavour. I have to admit when I see a generic sounding name, such as fresh fruits, it doesn’t fill me with confidence as it normally means it will be a lazy mix, but this one is different. It is a real enigma, and every inhale seems to taste different. The one constant is a citrus flavour which draws it all together, but I also get berries and ice.
Strawberry Watermelon
“Juicy and luscious, this flavour burst with the sweetness of sun-ripened Strawberries and the refreshing essence of Watermelon. It’s like a summer symphony in your mouth”
Another classic, and there isn’t much to add. It is a great mix of fresh strawberries with slices of perfect watermelon. They are flavours which naturally go together well, and this mixes two of the best. This is another rock solid take on a classic.
Fresh Mint
“Crisp and invigorating, this flavour delivers a burst of cool mint that leaves you feeling refreshed and revitalised. It’s a breath of fresh air, clean and uplifting”
Wow this is super minty, and then some! It is a mix of different mints, which reminds me of a mint fondant or a Kendal mint cake but on steroids. It also has just the right amount of sweet highlights which balances out the mint and the super cold chilling effect. One vape of this, and you will feel really alive!
Kiwi Passion Guava
“This exotic trio is a tropical paradise in every vape. The tangy Kiwi, succulent Passion Fruit and Sweet Guava create a vibrant and zesty medley of flavours”
I wasn’t looking forward to this one as I am just not a fan of kiwi as it feels a bit of a cliché these days, but once again, Dinner Lady have nailed the balance. The tropical notes come through nice and strong, and the kiwi just acts to pull things together. It doesn’t have that dirty earthiness that I don’t like, instead you just get a nice tropical blend.
Pineapple Orange
“A tropical and vibrant blend. This flavour combines the sweet taste of Pineapple with the zesty notes of Orange. It’s like a sunny day in a glass”
This tastes just like a really good glass of strong squash before they got ruined when they started to replace the sugar with sweetener. I absolutely love it, and it makes me feel like naughty kid who used half a bottle of cordial in just one glass. In a line-up of really great flavours, I think this may be my favourite one yet.
Banana Ice
“Creamy and cool. This flavour combines the sweet taste of ripe Bananas with an icy finish. It’s like a banana smoothie on a hot day, refreshing and satisfying”
It’s a good job I got to review the Fruit Full range, as Stephen would absolutely hate this flavour. It is just like a banana smoothie, with extra bananas, and then a bit more banana just in case you missed it the first time round. It is very sweet, but it is a real sugary sweetness. The ice is cooling and is very welcome. For banana fans, it doesn’t get better, but if you are one of those people who doesn’t do banana vapes, stay clear!
Cola Ice
“Cool and refreshing. This flavour combines the classic taste of Cola with an Icy finish. Just like a chilled glass of Cola on a hot day”
Definitely cola, more leaning towards a zero or max version in that it isn’t overly sticky tasting. It is a very clean and refreshing cola, and it has a good level of ice. It has classic rich notes and doesn’t feel watered down. Better still, it is a clean vape and won’t kill your coils.
Kiwi Passion Lime
“A zesty and vibrant blend. This flavour combines the tangy Kiwi, exotic Passion Fruit and a burst of refreshing Lime. It’s like a tropical fiesta – energising and fulfilling”
After the previous kiwi based flavour, I wasn’t quite so apprehensive this time round. It helps that this was a slightly more unusual mix of fruits. The kiwi is a bit stronger this time round, but it is the mix of passion fruit and lime that make this interesting. The lime is quite subtle, but it works to enhance the passion fruit and the kiwi. For me personally, it wouldn’t be one I’d have on repeat order, but that is purely down to my preference and is not reflection on the juice. We are all different, after all.
Pineapple Ice
“Cool and refreshing. This flavour combines the sweet taste of Pineapple with an Icy finish. It’s like a tropical breeze on a hot day”
I love pineapple vapes, so this was always going to end on a high. This is rich and syrupy, sweet with a real tropical punch that really hits the right spot. The ice is light and delicate, and the whole flavour just slips down so easily.
Final Thoughts
Dinner Lady can still come up with the goods, and they have proved this time and again with the Fruit Full range. There are a lot of flavours here, and I would expect with the law of averages that there would be a couple of duds, but that was not the case here. Sure, there were a couple of bottles that wouldn’t be for me, but that is just a personal taste thing. I can safely say that if you like the sound of the flavour, there is a very strong chance you will love the contents too.
The other thing the Fruit Full range has going for it that disposables can’t compete with is that they come in different strengths, from the standard 20mg, and nice middle ground of 10mg, and finally there is a 5mg. This is great as it means you can have a progression path if you are trying to reduce your nicotine intake.
Finally, there is the price, and this is where nic salts deal the final blow to disposables. Each 10ml bottle is just £3.99 each. When you consider most disposables are around £3-4 and only contain 2ml of liquid, this shows just how much money you can potentially save by making a better choice.
Many thanks to Dinner Lady for sending the Fruit Full range over for review.
- Lovely flavours
