Wotofo Serpent Mini styling and build quality
The Serpent Mini is compact 22mm RTA that features a single coil deck with a vice-like post setup. Machining on the whole is pretty good but in my opinion some of the threading could be improved although considering the low price tag it is certainly acceptable. There was absolutely no trace of machine oil and I could use this RTA straight out of the box!
The drip tip is the wide bore variety and made from Stainless Steel (the black version of the Serpent Mini has a Delrin drip tip). The drip tip fits reasonably well and can be easily replaced with another one from your collection.
The top of the RTA unscrews to allow you to easily fill it and thankfully the fit is decent and not prone to sticking. The package includes three pre-made competition coils made from twisted Kanthal but you can of course make and use your own coils if you wish. As I said earlier the deck is very vice-like and you slot the legs of the coils into slots in the posts and then secure them in place with the hex screws.
In terms of styling the Serpent Mini is nicely done and all the parts were free of burrs and imperfections.
Airflow
The Serpent Mini has two Cyclops style airflow slots and they can be fully opened up or heavily closed down depending on your preference. The airflow adjustment ring works well and was neither too stiff nor too loose.
One thing you need to keep in mind is that Serpent Mini’s draw is suitable for people that like a slightly restricted lung inhale so if you vape mouth to lung this really isn’t for you.
Ease of use
The Serpent Mini is an absolute doddle to build and even first time rebuildable users will certainly be able get to grips with it without serious issues. The included coils serve as an excellent example so you don’t need to make your own coils right away. The only thing you need to be aware of is that you do need to make your coil legs reasonably long to assist when fitting them. You also have to make sure that when fitted the coil legs are trimmed almost flush so you don’t get a hard short when reassembling the tank.
Wicking is also very straightforward but take care not to stuff the juice holes with your cotton because you really only have to trim them level with the deck with the tails resting just above the juice holes. Less is more is clearly the best option when you are wicking this tank.
The top filling design makes refilling this tank an absolute breeze and there is a generous amount of space for your juice nozzles or droppers.
How does it vape?
The Serpent Mini certainly does not disappoint in the vaping department since the included twisted wire competition coils are excellent and you get three of them in the box. At 25W it was a decent vape but increasing this to 35W resulted in a truly excellent one. The small size of the tank gives you truly superb flavour, there was a good amount of heat and very generous cloud production!
To be completely honest I very much doubt you would want to push this tank higher than 40W because the vape can get very hot and the airflow isn’t massive so do keep that in mind when making your own builds.
According to Wotofo the Serpent Mini holds 3ml of juice but to be realistic it is actually more like 2.5ml. This means you will be refilling quite often if you are a heavy vaper even when vaping at a modest 30-35W. However it isn’t really that big a deal since the top fill design alleviates that issue to a degree.
Conclusion
In my opinion the Serpent Mini is a great product from Wotofo that offers excellent ease of build, superb flavour and good cloud production at a sensible price!
The only real drawback is this tank’s juice capacity which tends to get drained quickly but this is offset by the fact that it has a simple top fill design. If you like the sound of this then do pick one up because you won’t be disappointed!
We are giving away one of the superb tanks in our competition here, closes 6th September 2016.
