LVE Boson Boro AIO

The LVE Boson might be the ultimate Boro compatible AIO to date, read on to find out why

Share on:

In a world full of pod kits, sometimes we really just want to kick back with a proper mod, so when the very lovely Rob from Stealthvape contacted us asking if we’d be interested in checking out the LVE Boson, a DNA powered Boro tank compactable all in one mod, we didn’t need to wait to be asked twice!

LVE don’t have the biggest range of devices, they don’t go for monthly incremental upgrades making you buy kit after kit after kit to get the latest specs, no! What they do instead is release top quality products that are designed to last. I bought the LVE Orion ii when it came out and I still use it regularly, and even after lots of use and abuse, it is still performing like a champ. So I had very high hopes for the LVE Boson.

Named after the Boson particle, you know, that stuff that is thought to be at the root of the creation of our universe, the LVE Boson is all about rock solid build and performance whilst also answering some of the universe’s greatest questions, or at least resolving and refining what we think of when it comes to Boro compatible devices. LVE also claim that the Boson is the first DNA80C powered Boro device powered by an internal lipo battery. What this means in real world terms is that the Boson is a streamlined and relatively small which is great for someone like me who has tiny hands and finds more traditional Boro mods just too big and cumbersome.

Unboxing, First Impressions, and Specs

LVE are instantly making a statement even before you get close to actually using the Boson as the packaging is lovely. It feels special. It comes in a fairly substantial box which has a futuristic cyberpunk style design. The whole top lifts off to reveal the device in all its glory, no cheap plastic trays in sight. It feels more like unboxing some high class perfume or the latest designer tech rather than a vape kit. The mod sits alone in its presentation stage, and it hits hard that this is something a bit special.

Of course you get more than just the Boson though, and the extras are all hidden in a secret compartment under the mod. You get a charging cable, a narrow mtl drip tip, a flush nut, and a spare set of windows. This is pretty awesome as most brands will make you buy any extras like that separately, but here you can customise your device right from the get-go. You will need your own tool to swap them out though, the some of the screws need a 1.5 tri tool which, if you are into tinkering with any electronics, you should have as they are standard in any micro tool kit. I don’t need an excuse to take electronics apart so I have a large selection of tech tools, but if you don’t have one already, you can pick up a full kit for less than a tenner from Amazon, and then if your phone packs up, you’ll also have the tools to fix it!. I have seen a lot of people moaning about this, but seriously people, just get yourself a decent tool kit! My kit (Titanium Silver) comes with the clear windows installed which I personally like as you can see all of the internal details, and the spares are smoked. You will need to have a play to decide which you prefer, but it is really nice that LVE have been so generous.

There are other ways to make the Boson your own too. The two included driptips should cover most styles, for me, the thinner bore is perfect for my vape style, but if you like things a bit airier, the DTL one is wide enough to hit hard without feeling daft (I hate massive pore driptips!). You also get the choice of a raised or a flush nut which secures the tank in place and completes the connection. I thought I’d prefer the flush one as normally I don’t like the feel of too much going on near the mouthpiece, but to my surprise, the raised one felt more comfortable to me with a bit more space between my lips and the top of the mod. You can also use your own nut if you prefer, but the included ones are both spot on.

Finally there is an instruction leaflet which I expected to be a bit full on, but it is actually really clear and easy to follow. It is also printed in a decent sized font so us old folks can read it without needing a magnifying glass!

  • Size – 34.5 x 31.9 x 90mm
  • Weight – 211g
  • Screen – 0.85 colour TFT
  • Output Wattage – 1-80W
  • Battery Type – 2200mAh, 30 Amp
  • Charging Current – 3.0 Amp Type C 5V 3.5 Amp
  • Positive Contact Pin – Adjustable Leakproof
  • Driptip – integrated 510

All in all, it is an impressive package and is presented in a way that gives the unboxing a sense of occasion. Once you get the LVE Boson in your hand, that feeling continues, it just oozes quality. It feels satisfying, it has a fair weight to it, but it is well balanced, and there are some subtle details that enhance the hand feel. All the edges are rounded, even the ones on the windows, and any raised sections are seamlessly integrated which makes the tactile experience really stand out. The windows are well implemented, everything is protected, and it makes everything feel like it is one cohesive design. I particularly like the one over the buttons as it means you can see the board underneath a metal shell. I love transparent mods, and it is also good to see that the Boson is built to take a few knocks if the worst was to happen.

The only part not covered by a window is the side where the airflow feeds in so there is a slightly recessed area which leaves one side open. There is also a slot on this side to directly feed the air to the Boro tank so there is more than enough air to go round. This is also the side where you’ll find the charging port under a well fitting flap. To access the port, just slide a fingernail under and flip it out. The flap is held by a bit of rubber, so you don’t need to worry about losing anything. The flap cover is a really good fit too, the tolerances have been given thought, and it feels like care has been taken with every element of the design.

There are three buttons on the front, a larger power one and two smaller selectors. They are all slightly raised but not enough to accidentally trigger if you carry it in your pocket, and there is zero button rattle. The main button feels super smooth, and I found myself rubbing my thumb in circles on it as it just feels so nice. The selectors are cleverly used too. Instead of just adjusting the power up and down, the buttons scroll around the screen, which is actually a menu, so if you want to change the power, you need to push on e of the small buttons until it highlights the power, then press fire to select, and then you can go up or down to dial things in. This effectively acts as a lock so you shouldn’t have any nasty surprises with mistakenly changed power settings. There is also a conventional lock too which also kicks in if you put your vape down for too long

Scrolling through the other screen options, you can access the settings menu where you can change the boost level which can give an initial supercharge, you can change the screen brightness (I want as much battery life as possible so set it to the minimum which is still plenty bright enough thanks to the clarity of the screen), and you can change the colour of the background. There are four options, classic, blue, brick, and rain. They all look decent, but I’m a simple girl with simple tastes, so I just stuck with the vanilla plain classic.

There is one last option on the screen, and that is replay, but we will get into that later.

In Use

Enough admiring the outer beauty, it is time to actually vape! I have a few Boro compatible tanks and they all fitted really well, so after trying them out, I built a basic Kanthal coil in my Atmizoo SteamShell and filled up my SnailTank V2. The tank slots into the space squarely, and although the bottom contact pin is adjustable, I didn’t need to change anything. Using the raised top nut, I tightened everything down and was instantly impressed by the solid fit. Normally I find most Boro type mods have a bit of wiggle room meaning you have to really line things up to get that consistent performance, but this went in straight away, spot on first time, and the contact was strong. I changed the power to 15W and took my first puff, and it hit hard and fast, no delay or ramp up. The airflow fed the bottom of the atomizer perfectly, and the vape was superb. But I have to confess, I haven’t built a coil for a while now, and I was a bit out of practice which meant my wicking game was not up to par and I dumped pretty much all of the juice, gutted, but it gave me a good chance to see if there was any way excess juice could seep in, and I was reassured to see the seal looked tight. After mopping up, I rewicked and got it right this time, and I couldn’t be happier with the vape quality. There is a reason DNA boards are so highly regarded, the vape was consistent hit after hit even with a basic kanthal build, and it feels super responsive. It has been a while since I’ve had the pleasure of a DNA mod, but straight away I felt like I was coming home.

The DNA80C has been specifically designed for Boro mods, and you still have the option to go into Escribe, Evolve’s software that allows you even more tweakability under the hood . I never liked messing around behind the scenes too much though, too high a chance of messing things up, but the option is there if that is your thing. There are other big pluses with the DNA80C too. For a start, you get a full colour screen which is always nice, and you get super fast charging with its 3A on offer. With a larger lipo, this does make a difference when it comes to down time.

Then there is the Replay option which is simply superb. It is basically temperature control that works. You will need to use a suitable coil material, and you can pick up the best quality from Stealthvape, as regular kanthal won’t work. I had some NI200 in my rebuildables box, so I knocked up a quick 0.15ohm coil and let it settle. After the initial break in period, the flavour was really coming through so it was time to hit the replay button which in basic terms tells the board to replicate the same vape every time, and I can confirm that every single puff tasted and felt the same with absolutely no wobbles or fluctuation. This is how temperature control should work, it is simple but oh so effective. I think calling it “replay” is a good call too; it is much friendlier sounding so hopefully won’t scare people off as this is such a good option if you want maximum flavour and performance as well as getting away with not changing your coils and cotton quite as often.

Final Thoughts

It has been a breath of fresh air getting to play with a proper mod. It is kind of like the difference between listening to a vinyl record compared to streaming, sure Spotify will get the job done, but you miss the whole encompassing experience of taking time for yourself, savouring the sleeve notes and enjoying the ritual. The LVE Boson is a beautiful mod with some really well thought out design elements, but it is what is under the hood which makes it special. The whole experience has been effortless, it simply works however you like to vape, and the Replay option is the cherry on the top. This is what vaping is all about.

If the LVE Boson has tickled your fancy, head over to Stealthvape to pick one up. Not only are you getting the best price at £89.99, but you will also get the ultimate in customer service and aftercare. Instead of a standard six month guarantee, Stealthvape offer an exclusive twelve months which should give you piece of mind should something unexpected happen. I can personally vouch for StealthVape, Rob will go above and beyond to help out with any issues, although I’d be very surprised if anything unexpected were to happen. Not only that though, Lipo batteries only have a finite life, but when it feels like performance is beginning to drop, you can send it back for a small fee and get it professionally changed out, and they will even send the old battery off for recycling for you too making this a solid ethical choice. Finally, you can add some of the best quality wick and wire to add to your basket, and trust me, you will want to add some of their exclusive Slivr cotton wick, it is simply the best you can get for your rebuildables.

Many thanks to Stealthvape for sending the LVE Boson in for review.
