A new study by Alternix set out to find the difference in cost savings to smokers if they switch completely to vapes or nicotine pouches. With tobacco placing smokers at a high risk of higher risk of heart attacks and lung cancer, the financial benefits of switching make huge sense, and Alternix say this could approach a massive £3,000 a year.
Alternix says: “There’s no doubt we are aware of the health risks attributed to smoking; as the NHS states, you have a higher risk of heart attacks and lung cancer. Because of this, the NHS advises vaping for smokers wanting to quit.
“But smoking cigarettes can come at quite a cost, and with a rise in nicotine-based products and aids to restrict the appeal of smoking traditional cigarettes, which ones are the most cost-friendly?”
New data from Alternix has broken down the cost of cigarettes compared to vapes and nicotine pouches, a new form of nicotine replacement therapy liked by many, to help aid your choice in which route to go down to quit smoking.
The findings were based on nicotine pouches costing £40 a month and disposable vapes costing £53 a month, on average, researchers found the daily, weekly, yearly, and lifetime costs of products.
With cigarette use costing an average of £3,294 a year, the potential is there to save £2,814 a year when opting for nicotine pouches over cigarettes, due to the fact that cigarettes cost almost 150% more than pouches.
Despite the fact that disposables are the most expensive form of vaping, the study also found that they offer a huge saving over a pack of cigarettes.
Alternix said that throughout a lifetime of smoking, you can expect to save over £174,000 – mainly down to the UK being the third most expensive country for smokers, with UK smokers spending an average of 11.37% of their monthly salary funding their habit.
Commenting on the findings, David Phillips at Alternix said: “Nicotine pouches are a much more discreet option for those wanting to quit smoking, as they are placed under the top lip, so they don’t require you to inhale any toxins, reducing any unpleasant odours. In addition to the fact that they do not contain the harmful chemicals and toxins found in cigarette smoke, our research shows how nicotine pouches are the most financially responsible option.
“The cost-of-living crisis continues to affect our everyday lives. Hence, cutting costs where possible is always advantageous, and our study shows that switching to nicotine pouches can save cigarette smokers almost £3,000 a year.”
Founded in the heart of North London, Alternix says it has quickly risen to prominence as a trusted source for alternative nicotine solutions. Passionate about providing their customers with a diverse and high-quality selection of alternative nicotine products.
