The administration team says: “GFN24 will take place online and live in Warsaw from 13 - 15 June 2024. The 11th GFN conference will explore the theme of 'Economics, Health and Tobacco Harm Reduction’ and will feature expert-led discussion on the public health role of safer nicotine products and their economic impact.
“The GFN programme is always driven by the latest science and evidence, and we are very excited that ScienceLab will be building on this. The theme of economy extends to our prices, with #GFN24 registration fees frozen at 2023 levels.”
The action isn’t waiting until June, organisers add: “As if you needed any more inspiration! GFN•TV, the broadcast arm of the GFN stable, reports on the latest tobacco harm reduction policy and news, as well as highlighting some of the stories you might have missed. In recent weeks we’ve featured interviews with several leading lights in tobacco harm reduction, including #GFN23 Michael Russell Orator Roberto Sussman, who joined us to discuss Mexico’s tightening restrictions on safer nicotine products, GFN23 panellist Garrett McGovern, who explored Ireland’s latest regulatory changes, and GFN22 host Michelle Minton who joined us to shed a light on how coverage of the teen vaping ‘epidemic’ has amplified the public debate around vaping in the USA.”
Consumer inclusion has played a key part of the GFN events over the years. The organisers say: “From its very beginning, the Global Forum on Nicotine has existed because of and for consumers of safer nicotine products. We believe that the consumer voice should be central to all discussions about tobacco policy, and that the philosophy of ‘Nothing about us without us’ should underpin all decisions about the future of safer nicotine products.”
This year, like last, #GFN24 will begin on Wednesday 12th June with a consumer meeting. Organisers say that consumers “will be well represented throughout the main #GFN24 programme”.
They continue: “Progress can only happen by enabling conversation and communication with all stakeholders involved in tobacco harm reduction. The Global Forum on Nicotine remains the only international conference devoted to tobacco harm reduction, and our doors are open to anyone who wants to explore and debate the role of safer nicotine products in helping people quit smoking - we won’t exclude anyone from the conversation.
“Consumers and grass-root activists have been key contributors and participators to the Global Forum on Nicotine from our inception, in 2014. To ensure that as many consumers as possible are able to join in the conversation at #GFN24, our consumer tickets are low priced and have been frozen at 2023 rates! You can find our ticket prices here.”
