Images and anecdotes are spreading around social media claiming that there is a growing problem with car tyres being punctured by discarded disposable vapes. Planet of the Vapes has received a typical comment and photographs from a smoking cessation experts’ group and reproduces it here under fair use.

The person wrote: “Bit of a warning post and I’m also curious if it’s happened to anyone else.

“Partner picked me up from work late last night and whilst driving down a quiet residential street we felt and heard a loud and quite deep pop under the car. Luckily only going about 20mph, pulled over and the tyre is hissing and has almost gone down completely.

“Annoyed and tired we changed the tyre and were amazed at the size of the damage and that the tyre itself looked slightly melted.

“Took car to get the new tyre today and the guy got the object out of the tyre, and it was a disposable ecig battery.

“Apparently, he’s seeing more of this, and it can cause a small explosion within the tyre under certain conditions.

“So glad we weren’t in a busy road or one where you would naturally be going faster.

“I’m sure everyone on here that uses them disposes of them responsibly, but if you don’t…please reconsider

It could have been much worse and was frightening enough going slow.”

Have you experienced this something like this? Have any of your friends got a puncture from a disposable vape? Let us know on the Planet of the Vapes forum or via the email address below.
